BOOK LAUNCH: Kolsky von Tanya Sharapova

„The Kolsky book is the final result of five years spent on the Kola Peninsula, a place that became, for me, a mirror of something bigger: a shift happening quietly across Russia. I photographed the Kola Peninsula from 2019 to 2024, until it no longer felt safe to continue. I’ve built the story out of intimate portraits, landscapes, and small details of a snowy world near the Arctic Circle.
The book includes color images, shot on a film camera, along with archival images found in local homes and abandoned buildings.“
Kolsky will be published by Kult Books as a 20×25 cm hardcover book, with a first edition limited to 500 copies. The essay for the book, ‚It Is Not That Straightforward,‘ is written by Andrei Zavadski. Design by Tanya Sharapova and Janne Riikonen.
Editing by Tanya Sharapova and Janne Riikonen.
The Kolsky project was made possible with the support of VG Bild-Kunst/Stiftung Kulturwerk, Innovate Grant, and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.
